Animal Planet’s R.O.A.R Campaign Matches Donations to Animal Causes

Animal Planet‘s R.O.A.R Campaign partners with leading animal organizations to inspire people to make the world a better place for animals, in local communities and in the wild. Simple things like volunteering at a local shelter, spreading the word about conservation, supporting a favorite animal cause or walking an elderly person’s dog can make a difference in the lives of animals.

Today, Discovery Communications announced the kickoff of the R.O.A.R Matching Campaign at globalgiving.org/roar.  The campaign will run for eight weeks (Sept. 1- Oct. 31) featuring eight of Discovery’s R.O.A.R partners (Australia Zoo Association, American Humane Association, National Wildlife Federation, Jane Goodall Institute, Earthwatch, Petfinder, South Shore Natural Science Center, and Villalobos Rescue Center). During the eight-week campaign donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $90,000 from the proceeds of Animal Planet-licensed products. To encourage participation, each charity is eligible to compete for up to $10,000 in bonuses in various categories throughout the eight-week campaign. The bonus categories include top monthly fundraiser ($3,000), most unique monthly number of donations ($3,000), a “spreading the word” bonus that accounts for the most number of “shares” on Facebook ($3,000) and a judgment award for the overall loudest ROAR ($1,000).
