TLC’s Tuesday Night Features ‘Sorority Girls’ & ‘Undercover Princes’

TLC‘s always giving us a glimpse into worlds and experiences that we often know little about, and that’s just what the network has lined up for Tuesday, January 31, with the premieres of Sorority Girls and Undercover Princes.

Premiering at 9pm ET/PT, Sorority Girls introduces us to five girls looking to bring the Greek life to a university on the other side of the Atlantic in Leeds, United Kingdom. Can this American custom mesh with English tradition?

Following Sorority Girls at 10pm ET/PT, TLC continues its sojourn in the UK as three single princes visit the country in search of their princesses in Undercover Princes. Ditching their entourages and taking on everyday jobs in this real-world Coming to America (one of my favorite comedies of all time), you’ll meet:

  • Crown Prince Manvendra of Rajpipla:Age 46; from one of India’s richest royal families; shocked the world by becoming the first Indian royal to come out as gay.
  • Prince Africa Zulu of Onkweni Royal House: Age 33; from South Africa; grew up in a traditional and conservative family; struggles with the liberal Brighton culture and with Prince Manvendra’s sexuality.
  • Prince Remigius of Jaffna: Age 47; from Sri Lanka; raised with strict protocol in search of a queen to continue the royal line.

And keep an eye out for Undercover Princesses (coming to TLC later this year)!

Discovery Channel Brings More Gold to Fridays with ‘Bering Sea Gold’

Gold Rush has become a Friday night sensation for Discovery Channel, and now the network is adding to the mix of cold and gold with a new series from the producers of Deadliest Catch, Bering Sea Gold.

Every summer in Nome, Alaska, a group of eccentric characters seek fortune…at the bottom of the Bering Sea. Using custom-built rigs, this fleet withstands the frigid ocean floor in hopes of finding gold and capitalizing on the precious metal’s all-time high value. The crews are diverse and the stakes are high, and you can see how they fare Fridays at 10pm ET/PT, after Gold Rush. But, first, check out a clip from this week’s premiere and find out how these dredges are bringing gold to the surface.

Simply upload your favorite pup pic from Facebook or your computer and encourage your friends and family to vote for your MVP. Then, take some time to give one to five paws to all the pups from fellow Puppy Bowl fans (it’s a competitive field). Spellbinding stories of the seemingly unexplained that have us asking, “How?” Beginning tonight at 10pm ET, OWN and host Wes Moore (himself a New York Times best-selling author and Army vet) introduce viewers to these stories in Beyond Belief. Each hour-long episode will explore stories of wonder, mysteries and miracles, such as that of a young woman born without arms who can now fly a plane by herself.

Moore is also joined by award-winning journalists Elizabeth Vargas, Bob Woodruff, Jay Schadler, Bill Weir and JuJu Chang throughout the series, which will air each Tuesday night on OWN.
