Discovery BuzzHappy Friday from Discovery HQ! It’s been a week full of pet news – from Jackson Galaxy sharing how he uses his charisma to calm troubled cats to Animal Planet announcing it has picked up Disney’s “Howl-O-Ween” special, complete with 101 dogs in costume! Meanwhile, Shark Week’s record-breaking success this past summer was the focus of an article that discusses how millennials took part in the annual celebration.

And speaking of big fish (and dangerous waters!), check out a behind-the-scenes look of what it means to be “on the job” on The Deadliest Catch.

SXSW PanelPicker

It’s August, and that mean’s SXSW PanelPicker is again upon us! The SXSW Interactive Festival, held annually in Austin, brings together leaders in technology and digital creativity to showcase the best technologies of today and what’s to come tomorrow and Music explores the future of the music industry, while SXSWedu brings together leaders from the education landscape to collaborate, create and change how we teach and learn.
This year, we’ve proposed some exciting panels and we would love your support in bringing some of these ideas to Austin! If you don’t already have one, create a PanelPicker account here and give the ‘thumbs up’ to the below ideas to help them be selected for SXSW Interactive, Music and SXSWedu next March.

Vote Discovery to SXSW 2014!

August 19, 2013 | by aharris

SXSW PanelPickerIt’s that time of the year again…PanelPicker voting for SXSW Interactive and SXSWedu 2014. If you missed us at SXSW last year, SXSW Interactive Festival, held annually in Austin, brings together leaders in technology and digital creativity to showcase the best technologies of today and explore what’s to come tomorrow, while SXSWedu brings together leaders from the education landscape to collaborate, create and change how we teach and learn.

This year, we’re excited to present several panels (tackling everything from live multiplatform to Puppy Bowl), and we hope you’ll take a moment to support us and our co-panelists by creating a PanelPicker account (it’s easy) and giving us a thumbs up and sharing your thoughts in the comments.

For your consideration for SXSWi…

And for SXSWEdu, Discovery Education has up for your votes…We’re From the Private Sector, and We’re Here to Help

SXSW is a community-driven event and public voting makes up 30% of the decision process (complemented by recommendations by staff and the Advisory Board). Voting closes on September 6, and we hope to see many of you in Austin next year!
