Discovery Continues International Growth with Acquisition & Strategic Partnership

As such, the people, creatures and cultures of the world are at the core of our programming, and we have grown from one cable channel, Discovery Channel, launched in the U.S. in 1985 to a global media company.

Our International business continues to thrive and earlier today our President & CEO announced the acquisition of SBS Nordic Operations from the ProSiebenSat.1 Group (including 12 television networks in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland). Additionally, Discovery and TF1 shared that negotiations aimed at forging a strategic alliance to create value in the numerous complementary activities are moving forward (including developing the future activities of Eurosport, creating pay-TV content in France and developing production activities in France via TF1 Production).

This year, eleven of Discovery’s leaders are included on the list, beginning with President & CEO David Zaslav and COO Peter Liguori.
