Happy Friday! In case you missed it, Discovery Channel made headlines yesterday for something a little less conventional for the network: hockey. (We’ll let news speak for itself. Here’s an article from The New York Post.)

On another note, the winner of Discovery Education and Toyota’s TeenDrive365 video challenge has been announced. Congrats to Chicago’s Elijah Wilborn!

Here are some other stories you may have missed:

Looking for something to do tonight? Tune into the season finale of Bering Sea Gold on the Discovery Channel at 9pm ET/CT. You won’t want to miss it!

Happy Friday! TLC programs generated a lot of buzz this week – from the new Labor Games to the announcement of new series Dare to Wear and Brides Gone Styled (you can learn more in the links below).

Here is some other news you may have missed:

And to continue on the TLC theme, check out a preview of Curvy Brides below, which airs Friday nights at 9:30pm ET/CT. Not only does Yukia and Yuneisia’s bridal shop share a home state with Discovery Communications (what can I say? nothing wrong with a little local pride!) but the sisters’ warm and bubby personalities can’t help but make you smile.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday – and more importantly, Happy First Day of Spring! Like much of the northeast and Tri-State area, DC got some snow this morning, though I’d like to think that it was just winter’s way of having one last dance before making a reappearance nine months from now.

Here are some stories you may have missed this week:

And don’t forget: Bering Sea Gold returns tonight to the Discovery Channel at 10pm ET/PT. Take a look at the video below of what’s in store this season.

Discovery Channel Kicks Off Mega Week With “Eaten Alive”

December 4, 2014 | by kdelmonico

Eaten AliveKicking off on Sunday, December 7, Discovery Channel is bringing viewers a week of jam-packed, super-sized programming with Mega Week.

The epic week will kick off on Sunday at 8PM ET/PT when James Franco and Seth Rogen attempt to survive 21 days Naked and Awkward. The 21-day survival challenge, complete with nightly spooning to keep warm, is a Naked and Afraid not to be missed.

Later, viewers will finally get to see the show everyone’s been talking about: Eaten Alive.  Snake researcher and conservationist Paul Rosolie has dedicated his career to studying the Giant Green Anaconda, the largest and most powerful snake in the world and the top predator in the Amazon.

This past summer, over a 60-day period, crews documented Rosolie’s expedition to an enchanted and hidden realm deep within the Amazonian jungle, searching for the world’s largest anaconda. If Rosolie succeeds in capturing this giant beast, he’s going to attempt something no one has ever dared: to be eaten alive by the anaconda.

Since Rosolie’s goal was to persevere through the constriction and potential ingestion deep into the belly of the beast, he relied on a custom-built suit he designed for his protection.  Constructed by Rosolie and his team of engineers working alongside herpetologists, the suit was built to ensure the snake’s safety just as much as it was to protect Rosolie’s life.

Eaten Alive premieres on Sunday at 9pm ET/PT and don’t miss the full Discovery Mega Week lineup.
