Stars Come Out for Discovery Communications’ Upfront

April 6, 2012 | by aharris

Yesterday, Discovery Communications returned to Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City to host its annual Upfront for an audience of advertisers and press. While I shared news yesterday here about new and returning series coming to our networks, we wanted to give you a glimpse at the action — on stage and backstage — through the photos below.

I’ve been fortunate to attend several Upfront presentations and what always sticks with me is the feeling of family — from the team that works so hard behind the scenes to put on a great show to the talent across our nets that reunite or meet for the first time (where else can you find James Woods and Buddy Valastro both whipping out their iPhones to get a picture together?). I’m certainly proud to be a part of the Discovery family.

Whose Team Are You On? ‘American Chopper Live: The Build-Off’ Premieres Tonight

December 5, 2011 | by aharris

American Chopper Live We’re used to seeing Paul Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr. battle it out to create the baddest bikes around…but what happens when we introduce another expert builder, Jesse James, into the mix? American Chopper fans are going to find out in less than an hour with the premiere of American Chopper Live: The Build-Off at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel.

This two-night event pits Senior, Junior and Jesse against each other with only one being named champ tomorrow night in a live show from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. And the Build-Off title means even more since it’s coming from the most important jury: the fans. Tonight’s two-hour special will take us inside all three shops as the bikes are being fabricated and at 11pm ET the American Chopper Live poll will open, with the winner announced live on national TV on Tuesday at 9pm ET.

Check out a sneak peek from tonight’s episode below and make sure to check in on GetGlue both nights and tell us if you’re Team Senior, Team Junior or Team Jesse for special stickers.

Next month, Jesse James (who made his TV debut on Discovery Channel) will return to the network for the first time since 2006 to take on American Chopper‘s Senior and Junior for the title of master bike builder. On December 5th and 6th at 9pm ET/PT, these three larger-than-life personalities will share the same stage for the first time. The competition and live results special will test the breaking points of the Teutuls’ family feud and Jesse James’ notoriously hot temper.

American Chopper LiveThe December 6th live special will give American Chopper fans the opportunity to vote on their favorite bike after seeing the three finished products during the regularly scheduled American Chopper episode on Monday, December 5 at 9pm ET/PT. American Chopper Live will air straight from Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

Will Senior’s years of experience give him the edge? Will Junior’s younger outlook lead him to victory? Or will wild card Jesse James wipe the floor with the two of them? Join them in Vegas and find out!

Hit the Road with New Eps of ‘American Chopper’ and a Sneak Peek of ‘Carfellas’

August 29, 2011 | by aharris

American Chopper is back on Discovery Channel on Mondays (at 9pm ET/PT) with new episodes, as the crews from Orange County Choppers and Paul Jr. Designs continue to deliver amazing bikes and Mikey’s art career starts to flourish.

And, following Chopper tonight at 10pm ET/PT, you can also catch a sneak peek at a new Discovery series: Carfellas. The series introduces us to Mikey D. (yes, we have two Mikeys on Mondays) who has made some mistakes in the past but is now trying to make an honest living with his used car dealership, Broadway Motors. Mikey is joined by Tommie and Mario as they look to acquire and sell all types of cars to Long Islanders.

In the Carfellas preview below, Tommie visits a classic car collector who even owns the Chrysler (as big as a whale) from the B-52′s Love Shack video. While the Chrysler doesn’t catch Tommie’s eye, something else does…

‘American Chopper’ Returns to Discovery Channel Tonight

April 25, 2011 | by gweiswasser

Fans of Discovery Channel‘s American Chopper know that what was once a family business making custom motorcycles is now a family feud. New episodes of American Chopper kick off tonight at 9pm ET/PT, with all new bike builds and even more drama between Senior and Junior. Meanwhile, Mikey’s art career takes off (sneak peek at the end of this post), while he desperately tries to pull the family back together. As you tune in this season you may see some familiar Discovery Channel faces among the customers featured on the show, including Red Jacket Firearms from Sons of Guns and the captains of Deadliest Catch.

Also, have you seen the new American Chopper promo? Did you wonder how that promo was made, given the animosity between the Teutuls? Get the inside scoop on how the producers of the promo were able to pull it off.

‘American Chopper’ Returns to Discovery Channel, All-New Episode Tonight

December 6, 2010 | by gweiswasser

As you may have heard last week, American Chopper is back back where it began…on Discovery Channel, airing Mondays at 9pm ET/PT.  In tonight’s all-new American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior, Paul Sr. struggles with whether or not to attend Junior’s wedding. He says he’s “damned if I do, damned if I don’t,” since he’d be attending a wedding where no one would be talking to him.

Here’s a sneak peek at the episode and Senior’s dilemma:

Also, don’t forget to check out American Chopper‘s fansite on Discovery.com and Facebook page to get more updates about the show throughout the season. And, if that’s not enough to tide you over until tonight’s premiere, you can see more clips below:

  • Email Olive Branch: When Mikey Teutul gets an email from Senior suggesting they meet at a diner, he finds he needs time to think.
  • Brother to Brother: Paul Jr. and Mikey Teutul have a heartfelt discussion about where they stand with each other and their father.
