Discovery Channel Appoints Elli Hakami Vice President, Program Development; Stuart Cohn Named Director, Program Development

(Silver Spring, Md.) It was announced today that Elli Hakami has been appointed vice president, program development and Stuart Cohn has been named director, program development for the Discovery Channel.
An industry veteran with extensive development experience, Hakami will be based in Los Angeles and will lead the networks’ program development initiatives on the west coast. As vice president, program development, her role includes creating programming initiatives for both domestic and international broadcast, developing and securing talent, and serving as network liaison to the Los Angeles production community. Hakami launched and was at the helm of the networks’ successful New York development office for the past two years. Prior to Discovery, she was senior director of program development at Court TV, worked on a wide variety of nonfiction programming in HBO’s Original Programming, Documentary department, and served as an editor on TLC’s Trauma: Real Life in the ER series.
Replacing Hakami in the New York development office is Stuart Cohn, who will serve as director, program development. Cohn joins Discovery from MTV Networks, where he served as director of series development for MTV News & Docs. Prior to his development role at MTV, Cohn was director of video production at Rain Productions/Barnes & Noble.com, and also served as a writer/producer for MTV.
Both Hakami and Cohn report to Jeff Hasler, senior vice president of production and development.
