Discovery Communications Names David Shackley Senior Vice President, Creative

(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Communications today announced that David Shackley has been appointed Senior Vice President, Creative. Reporting to Chief Marketing Officer Wonya Lucas, Shackley will provide strategic guidance and leadership for Discovery's internal creative agency to develop and execute marketing content across all divisions of the company.
"David's nearly 20 years of experience in managing and driving the creative process to engage consumers and business partners will be extremely valuable to Discovery's marketing department," said Lucas. "I will look to David to develop and execute the vision for the in-house creative services of the company to maximize value for our world-class brands."
In his new role, Shackley will manage the strategy and execution for several key areas, including print, television production, photography, broadcast graphics and interactive to deliver measurable results for Discovery's global networks and brands.
Most recently, Shackley held the position of Vice President, Global Events, managing corporate and network events and branded merchandise for Discovery. Prior to joining Discovery in 2007, Shackley spent several years at AOL where he was Vice President, Brand Marketing and Solutions.
Shackley is a member of the advisory board of Event Marketer Magazine, Biz Bash, and is a board member of The Event Marketing Association.
