Discovery Communications Promotes Megan Rock to Vice President, Domestic Distribution

(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Communications has promoted Megan Rock to vice president, Domestic Distribution. The announcement was made by Jennifer Dangar, senior vice president, Domestic Distribution, to whom Rock reports.
In her new role, Rock serves as a primary liaison for Discovery's affiliate partners on local ad sales, while staying involved in network distribution and marketing initiatives at the MSO level. She is charged with helping distributors grow their local ad sales revenues through innovative promotional campaigns and events, while continuing to help secure distribution and marketing partnerships for Discovery's 14 U.S. networks.
"An 18-year cable and telecom industry veteran, Megan's wealth of experience is an asset to both Discovery and our partners," said Dangar. "Her expertise in local ad sales and marketing tactics, coupled with her proven knack for creating win-win partnerships, make her a perfect fit for this new role."
Previously, as director, Domestic Distribution, Rock managed sales strategy, marketing and promotions to drive distribution of Discovery's family of networks, including Travel Channel and Discovery's U.S. Hispanic Networks.
Before joining the company, Rock served in various sales and marketing positions at Turner Broadcasting, Fox Family Channel, MediaOne, Alvarez & Marsal Business Consulting, LLC as well as Discovery Communications. In these roles, she was responsible for handling sales negotiations, conducting competitive analysis, creating revenue-generating opportunities, collaborating on local ad sales promotions and building key client relationships.
An active participant in the cable community, Rock is a member of WICT (Women In Cable Telecommunications) and CTAM (Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing) and is involved with Cable Positive. In 2007, she also took part in CTAM U., CTAM's executive management program at the Harvard Business School.
Rock holds a bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She is based in Discovery's Atlanta office.
