Discovery Communications Promotes Todd Zander to Vice President, Digital Media Distribution

(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Communications has promoted Todd Zander to vice president, Digital Media Distribution. Zander reports to Rebecca Glashow, senior vice president of Digital Media Distribution, who made today's announcement.

In his new role, Zander is responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive further distribution for Discovery's digital media offerings across online and mobile platforms. In addition, he will work closely with the Discovery Education division to extend distribution for the company's award-winning educational services through new partnerships within the digital arena.

"Todd has made tremendous contributions to Discovery's digital growth by significantly expanding the company's mobile offerings," said Glashow. "With a keen understanding of technology and a unique combination of business development and marketing expertise, Todd will continue to be instrumental in creating new digital opportunities that drive value for our partners and bring consumers more of the content they want."

Previously, Zander served as director, Digital Media Distribution, where he built partnerships with major mobile distributors as well as service providers and developers. He recently played a leading role in the launch of the company's first network branded iPhone App for Discovery Channel, which has been downloaded over 1.5 million times and remains a Top Entertainment App.

Prior to Discovery, Zander was the Associate Director for the V CAST Video product at Verizon Wireless, where he managed programming and business development for the leading mobile video service in the U.S. Before that, he held sales executive positions at Microsoft and Sun Microsystems. Zander began his career in product marketing at AT&T Labs.

Zander holds a bachelor's degree in International Affairs and Government & Law from Lafayette College and a master's degree in International Policy from the Monterey Institute for International Studies. He is based in Discovery's New York office.
