Discovery Hires Top Development Strategist

(Silver Spring, MD) Discovery Communications today announced the hiring of Sony Corporation of America executive James Rosenstock as Senior Vice President, Business Development and Strategy.
Rosenstock will lead a Business Development and Strategy team devoted to evaluating and executing acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and other growth opportunities. He will also play an integral role in overall strategic planning, boosting efforts to enhance profitability and shareholder value.
“Jay brings extensive experience and a unique perspective to transacting mergers and acquisitions, having been an investment banker to the media and entertainment industry and more recently as an in-house Corporate Development executive at Sony,” said Bruce Campbell, President, Digital Media and Business Development, to whom Rosenstock will report. “His experience will be extremely valuable as Discovery pursues new growth opportunities.”
Rosenstock was most recently Vice President of the Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Sony Corporation of America, where he served for five years evaluating and executing strategic transactions for key Sony U.S. business divisions. During his tenure at Sony, Rosenstock completed a variety of strategic transactions including the merger creating Sony BMG Music Entertainment; Sony’s acquisition (with partners) of film studio MGM; and Sony/ATV Music Publishing’s recent acquisition of Famous Music (owned by Viacom).
Previously, Rosenstock was an investment banker to the media and entertainment industry, most recently at Credit Suisse First Boston. During his investment banking tenure, Rosenstock completed transactions in a number of sectors including: Film/TV, music, broadcasting/cable, theatrical exhibition, digital media, professional and educational publishing, and wireless infrastructure.
He earned a B.S. in finance from Virginia Tech. Rosenstock will be based at Discovery’s offices in New York.
