Discovery Mobile Launches 14 Original Series
Made-For-Mobile Series Focused on Green Living Highlight Premieres

(Silver Spring, MD) Discovery Mobile, Discovery’s 24-hour mobile programming network, is rolling out 14 original made-for-mobile series beginning this month and premiering throughout fall 2007. Part of Discovery’s new PlanetGreen initiative, four of the new series focus on attaining environmentally friendly lifestyles -- from easy-to-implement everyday tips to experimental new technologies of the future.

Discovery Mobile ’s new slate of original series includes the following:
WHAT ARE THE ODDS? produced by Discovery Studios, explores the age-old questions of chance, probability and randomness, deconstructing the odds of different events. Premiering this month, each of the 26 three-minute episodes will reveal the real odds of occurrences such as discovering life on other planets, finding treasure, bumping into an old friend, winning the lottery, catching a cold and avoiding a plane crash.
EARTH GROOVES captures the beauty and splendor of the world around us in this entrancing, melodic six-episode series. Set to calming music, each four-minute episode features inspiring visuals from breathtaking landscapes, the wild kingdom and underwater sea life, among others. Produced by Christopher Wojcik, EARTH GROOVES is premiering this month.
TLC's LIFE ESSENTIALS, premiering this month, builds on the network’s Life Lessons campaign with 10 three-minute episodes providing tips on various topics facing 30-somethings, from marriage and raising children to hosting a dinner party and planning the perfect getaway on a budget. TLC’s LIFE ESSENTIALS is produced by Label Entertainment.
HIDDEN GARAGES offers a fascinating look inside the “Hidden Garages” of Mercedes Benz -- the company’s remarkable private collection of automobiles -- with each of the six four-minute episodes focusing on a particular car and how it relates to key moments, developments and advances by the oldest automotive company in the world. The premiere episode will tell the story of where the name “Mercedes” comes from and why the first Mercedes, built in 1901, is considered the world’s first modern car. Premiering in June, HIDDEN GARAGES is part of Discovery Mobile’s TURBO programming block and is produced by Cry Havoc Productions.
GREEN GADGETS will showcase several new gadgets and emerging technologies designed to make life a little bit easier while being eco-responsible at the same time. Each of the 18 three-minute episodes explores a different green tool or innovation from all aspects of life including sports such as eco-cycling and eco-golf and alternative transportation options like the Smart Car and Segway. GREEN GADGETS will premiere in third quarter.
GREENSPACE, premiering in third quarter, is an eight-episode series giving viewers an insider’s glimpse of what everyday folks are doing to help the environment and proving it’s not as tough or as expensive to be green as one may think. Featured topics include making eco-fashion choices and purchasing organic beer and wine, among others. GREENSPACE is produced by TurnHere Productions.
GO GREEN, produced by Tumbleweed Entertainment, is an eight-episode series of three-minute "how-to" shorts. From eco-friendly cleaning products to getting better gas mileage and understanding hybrid technology, GO GREEN breaks down the steps to various lifestyle, home improvement and modification projects for energy-efficient solutions for the future. GO GREEN premieres in third quarter.
LIVING TOMORROW, a 15-episode series premiering in third quarter, showcases the technology of the future, emphasizing sustainable, renewable energy resources. The upcoming innovations featured in the series will be available to consumers in the next five to 10 years. The three-minute episodes focus on the practical and the everyday, exploring topics ranging from grocery shopping in the future to the cars and kitchens of tomorrow. LIVING TOMORROW is produced by Reel Stuff Entertainment.
ANIMAL CRACKERS, produced by Ellis Vision, explores the history and sources of popular animal-related sayings. Each of the 26 two-minute episodes premiering in third quarter will examine where common phrases such as “don’t look a gift horse in the mouth,” “quit cold turkey” and “hair of the dog” originated and how they became part of popular culture.
STRANGE SCIENCE, premiering in third quarter, takes a fun and informative look at some of the most bizarre topics in science. Drawn from Discovery’s rich archive, this original repurposed series uncovers the fascinating and freaky, exploring strange phenomena and unexplained events and theories. Made up of 26 three-minute episodes, STRANGE SCIENCE asks whether bizarre rust-eating bacteria could cause the Titanic to vanish forever and examines the truth and fiction behind the unexplained Loch Ness Monster, among other out-of-the-ordinary mysteries.
TWIST THE THROTTLE, premiering in third quarter, tells the stories of the seven most famous sport motorcycling brands in the world. Part of Discovery Mobile’s TURBO programming block, the 36-episode series will examine the remarkable histories of companies like Yamaha and Ducati, going behind the scenes at their factories and inside their race team headquarters. Each four-minute episode will give viewers a firsthand look at what it is like to create these magnificent machines and ride them on some of the best motorcycle roads and racetracks in the world.
EXIT HERE introduces viewers to global locations that have always sparked people's curiosity, as well as little-known sites off the beaten path that have yet to be discovered. Premiering in third quarter, each of the 26 three-minute episodes will explore a new destination, acting as an on-the-go tour guide to famous landmarks, historical and cultural sites. EXIT HERE is produced by TurnHere Productions.
JAWS & CLAWS, a 10-episode series drawn from Discovery’s extensive programming library, explores the relationship of predator and prey. Each five-minute episode offers a look at some of the world’s most dangerous animals and their unfortunate victims in a brand new way that entertains and educates. Produced by Discovery’s New Media team, JAWS & CLAWS premieres in fourth quarter and features predators such as the cheetah, komodo dragon and tarantula.
TOP MARQUES offers a fascinating look inside 11 of the most famous and exclusive automotive brands in the world. Featuring luxury manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini, TOP MARQUES explores the company histories, goes inside the factories and showcases some of the most spectacular machines ever created in this 33-episode series of four-minute shorts. Currently airing, TOP MARQUES is produced by Cry Havoc productions.
