Discovery Mobile Offers Shark Week Programming

SILVER SPRING, Md. – In celebration of SHARK WEEK, cable’s longest-running programming event, Discovery Mobile will launch its own slate of shark-related content featuring original, made-for-mobile premieres and clips from classic SHARK WEEK favorites.

“For the past two decades, SHARK WEEK has enthralled and captivated viewers. This year, for the first time, fans can dive into the SHARK WEEK experience in a format and style customized just for them,” said Clint Stinchcomb, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Discovery Emerging Networks Group. “A perennial favorite, SHARK WEEK represents a unique opportunity to showcase Discovery Mobile’s programming strategy of creating fresh, original content for the small screen while driving awareness and excitement for Discovery’s television networks.”

Airing from Sunday, July 23 through Saturday, August 4, 2007, Discovery Mobile’s slate of SHARK WEEK content includes the following:

-- Made for Mobile Deep Dives features premieres of special SHARK WEEK episodes from original mobile series NEED TO KNOW ON THE GO, WHAT ARE THE ODDS? and FYI. These episodes will profile several shark species, explore the probability of being attacked by a shark, and show how scientists can learn from sharks what makes some people skinny and others fat, among other fun sharktoids.

-- Classic Shark Bites takes a look back at some of the best and most jaw-clenching moments in the 20-year history of SHARK WEEK with clips from popular titles such as GREAT WHITE SHARK UNCAGED, BULL SHARK: WORLD’S DEADLIEST SHARK and DIARY OF A SHARK MAN.

-- Favorite Fins is a compilation of Discovery Channel favorites including AMERICAN SHARK, DIRTY JOBS: JOBS THAT BITE, Shark Mini-Myths from MYTHBUSTERS and more.
