Discovery Times Channel Becomes Investigation Discovery on January 27, With Slate of New Fact-Based Programming

Investigation Discovery Series, DATELINE ON ID, is a Partnership with DATELINE NBC and Premieres Wednesday, January 30

(Silver Spring, Md.) On January 27, Discovery Times Channel will turn the page and become Investigation Discovery (ID), a network that builds upon Discovery Times’ history of providing the highest-quality programming focused on dynamic stories of human nature from the past to the present. ID will expand upon the programming that has delivered new audiences over the past year, while continuing to forge new partnerships with leading news organizations and production companies to bring more than 200 premiere hours to ID’s 50 million U.S. households. With these premiere hours of programming, ID will present viewers with the strongest analytic, fact-based investigative and current affairs programming that sheds new light on our culture, history and the human condition.

ID’s lineup kicks off Sunday, January 27 with a full week of premieres, including the series premiere of DATELINE ON ID on Wednesday, January 30 at 10 PM. Hosted by NBC anchor Lester Holt, DATELINE ON ID presents compelling Dateline NBC stories exclusively for ID’s audience. Some upcoming specials in first quarter include CODE OF SILENCE (Friday, February 1 from 9-11 PM) and DIAMOND ROAD (Tuesday, March 25 from 7-10 PM). CODE OF SILENCE chronicles what authorities claim was one of the most effective gang of bank robbers in modern history, known as the “Boston Bandits.” While trying to rein in the gang, investigators run into continuous dead ends throughout Charleston, Mass. as the “code of silence” emanates from leads in tracking suspected ringleader Tommy Shea. DIAMOND ROAD is a three-part documentary exploring the historical, cultural and sociopolitical facets of the world's most intriguing gem, the diamond. Boring deep into the diamond world, DIAMOND ROAD seeks to understand the multiple meanings of an object that is as old as the earth and investigates the issues entangled within the diamond industry. In addition, one of the world premiere series featured in ID’s primetime lineup is FUGITIVE STRIKE FORCE, a fast-action program documenting three levels of fugitive-hunting units in Nevada including the U.S. Marshals, the Las Vegas SWAT and regional bounty hunters. FUGITIVE STRIKE FORCE premieres Tuesdays at 10 PM starting January 29.
