John Chianese Named Vice President, Integrated Advertising Sales Marketing, Discovery Communications

(New York, N.Y.) Discovery Communications announced today that John Chianese has been named vice president, integrated advertising sales marketing, U.S.

In this role, Chianese is responsible for managing a team that focuses on the development and execution of cross-platform "solutions" partnerships and network-specific sponsorships to drive premium advertising sales revenue.  He was an integral part in the development of all ad sales related opportunities and resources for the launch of Planet Green, Discovery's 24-hour eco-lifestyle channel. Chianese also is charged with collaborating with senior sales management to develop marketing strategy for renewal and target sales accounts during Upfront and scatter sales periods. Prior to this role, Chianese served as senior marketing director for the group.

Chianese joined Discovery in 2001, and during his tenure has served as senior marketing manager, working on a number of network based marketing partnerships for TLC, Travel Channel and Discovery Health. During this time, the partnership deals he was managing were consistently renewed each Upfront which translated to increases in ad sales revenue.

Prior to joining Discovery, Chianese worked for Octagon Marketing where he held several marketing positions, including senior account executive. While at Octagon he helped develop and execute marketing plans for events like Gravity Games and the Senior PGA Tour.

Chianese holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Lehigh University.  He resides in Rye, NY with his wife Whitney. He is an avid runner and participates in races throughout the tri-state area.
