Laurie Goldberg Appointed TLC’s Senior Vice President of Communications

(Los Angeles, CA) Media industry veteran Laurie Goldberg has been named senior vice president of communications for TLC.
Reporting jointly to Angela Shapiro-Mathes, president and general manager, TLC and Regina DiMartino, executive vice president, marketing, Goldberg will lead communications efforts for TLC, overseeing all programming publicity, business and executive media strategy for the network.

With her extensive PR and cable industry experience, she is the ideal executive to lead the communications strategy for TLC,” said Shapiro-Mathes. “She has a proven track record of building visibility and awareness for brands, talent and networks that will be key to TLC’s success moving forward,” added DiMartino.
As senior vice president of communications, Goldberg will be responsible for the development and implementation of all communications strategies, supporting TLC’s branding, positioning and programming and directing the network’s consumer and trade program publicity outreach. One of the largest cable television networks in the U.S., TLC is home to such hit series as LITTLE PEOPLE BIG WORLD, WHAT NOT TO WEAR, LA INK and the iconic TRADING SPACES.
Most recently, Goldberg was senior vice president of public relations for CNN News Group, where she oversaw public relations for all of the CNN news networks and businesses including CNN/U.S., CNN Headline News, and CNN.com, among others. An integral member of the CNN executive leadership team, Goldberg served as a key advisor on communications and strategy issues and as the network’s chief spokesperson to the media. Among her accomplishments during her tenure at CNN, she successfully developed and executed public relations campaigns in support of CNN’s Hurricane Katrina coverage; major talent including Anderson Cooper, Christiane Amanpour, and Wolf Blitzer; the launch of the new Headline News prime-time line-up; and CNN.com.
Previously, Goldberg served as senior vice president of public relations for Turner Broadcasting's Cartoon Network. While there, she created and executed successful communications campaigns advancing signature original programming, including the very popular Adult Swim block, as well as new network and online business ventures.
Goldberg earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. She has completed advanced study at the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, Colo., and is a fellow of the Women in Cable & Telecommunications’ Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.
She will be based at TLC network headquarters in Los Angeles.
