-- Pledges $3 Million in Air Time in Support of Troops, Families --

July 23, 2007

(Silver Spring, MD) Continuing its steadfast commitment to the military community, the Military Channel is launching a new phase of the Reconnect America initiative with a series of public service announcements (PSAs). The announcements feature members of Congress and governors acknowledging the American troops and their families and encouraging viewers to show their support for the military community by visiting ReconnectAmerica.com.

“At the heart of the Military Channel’s mission to bring viewers real-world stories from the front lines are the men and women serving in our armed forces. These efforts provide us the opportunity to thank both the troops and their families for their commitment and sacrifice,” said Clint Stinchcomb, executive vice president and general manager, Discovery Emerging Networks Group.

Appearing on behalf of the Military Channel, legislators and governors are filming PSAs thanking the men and women of our armed forces for their service and sharing with Military Channel viewers how they can help fellow Americans by visiting www.ReconnectAmerica.com. The first of the PSAs began airing nationally on the July 4th holiday and feature Gov. Edward Rendell of Pennsylvania and Rep. Patrick Murphy, an Iraq war veteran also from Pennsylvania.

In addition to pledging $3 million of air time to the initiative, the Military Channel is partnering with Comcast and other distributors to air the PSAs locally. The spots also will air on www.ReconnectAmerica.com, which unites nearly 50 million Military Channel viewers with more than 10 million Americans in military-focused organizations that offer resources for Americans to support the troops such as Fisher House Foundation, the National Military Family Association, the USO, Operation Gratitude, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), Armed Services YMCA, and many others.

In addition to the Reconnect America initiative, the Military Channel is proud to offer up-to-date military news from top defense officials and military services from around the world with AROUND THE SERVICES, a half-hour news program from the Department of Defense. AROUND THE SERVICES, which airs daily at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) takes viewers directly to news conferences and press briefings, and allows current members of the Armed Forces, veterans, family members and loved ones to stay informed regarding current military affairs.

The Military Channel brings viewers compelling, real-world stories of heroism, military strategy, technological breakthroughs and turning points in history. The network takes viewers “behind the lines” to hear the personal stories of servicemen and women and offers in-depth explorations of military technology, battlefield strategy, aviation and history. As the only cable network devoted to military subjects, it also provides unique access to this world, allowing viewers to experience and understand a world full of human drama, courage, innovation and long-held military traditions.
