Nancy Daniels Named VP for Discovery Studios

(Silver Spring, MD) Veteran television executive Nancy Daniels has been named Vice President of Development and Production for Discovery Studios. Based in Burbank, Calif., Daniels will oversee all West Coast production and development activities for Discovery Studios. The announcement was made today by Clark Bunting, president, Discovery Studios.

Discovery Studios is the recently-created division of Discovery Communications charged with developing and producing original series, specials, theatrical documentaries and short form content for Discovery’s television networks. In her newly created role, Daniels will manage all of the development and production of all programming created by Discovery Studios in Los Angeles. Projects now under her supervision include programs for TLC, Travel Channel, Planet Green, Discovery Health Channel and others.

“Nancy Daniels' arrival marks an important step in the growth of Discovery Studios,” Bunting said. “She is going to play a vital role in developing new productions, on-air talent and compelling content and I am delighted to have someone of her caliber and experience in this position.”

Daniels comes to Discovery Studios from CBS where she served as vice president of alternative series development since 2003. In this role, she worked on a wide range of CBS’s key reality properties including Survivor, multiple Emmy Award-winner The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Rock Star and others. Prior to joining CBS, Daniels had an extensive career as a producer in the independent television community. Previously, she has worked at high-profile independent production companies Shapiro/Grodner Production, Arnold Shapiro Productions, Pie Town Productions, and Film Garden entertainment. In these roles, she produced series for CBS, MTV, TLC, HGTV, Women’s Entertainment (WE), and others.
