May 21, 2007

(Silver Spring, MD) Terri and Bindi Irwin, wife and daughter of famed-television personality and conservation icon Steve Irwin, carry on his legacy by welcoming families nationwide to Sunday nights on Animal Planet with the best in natural history and wildlife documentaries. In addition, the network premieres a brand-new documentary on Steve Irwin’s life from the perspective of his daughter. The dynamic mother/daughter Irwin duo are bringing their love of nature and wildlife to cable television’s home for wildlife and pet programming, Animal Planet.

On Friday, June 8, at 9 PM ET/PT, Animal Planet debuts the one-hour special MY DADDY THE CROCODILE HUNTER the evening before the Animal Planet and Discovery Kids Channel simulcast world premiere of BINDI: THE JUNGLE GIRL (Saturday, June 9, at 5 PM, ET). Bindi Irwin hosts her first special and shares her personal look at growing up with her famous dad, The Crocodile Hunter. Bindi shows clips from her early childhood and goes behind the scenes of some of Steve Irwin’s most exciting television shows and movies. Viewers experience how Steve taught his daughter about wildlife, their habitat and being a “wildlife warrior.” The special includes footage captured on Steve's last crocodile research adventure in August 2006, when Bindi assisted in some amazing crocodile captures and other wildlife experiences throughout the Australian Outback.

Sunday nights on Animal Planet are not to be missed when Terri and Bindi Irwin host PLANET’S BEST WITH TERRI AND BINDI, debuting Sunday, June 10, at 8 PM ET/PT. The last great escape with the family – Sunday night – is now wilder than ever with Terri and Bindi Irwin as they host Animal Planet’s best specials. They’ll introduce viewers to over 1001 animals, test your animal brain power and answer your questions on everything animal. From your house to the Irwin home in the heart of Australia Zoo, pull up to the TV, and share some fun, clever family time together with the best wildlife programming on television every Sunday night on Animal Planet. PLANET’S BEST WITH TERRI AND BINDI debuts with the special “Orangutan Diary” and also includes world premieres of such specials as “Super Mole” (July 8) and “Lions of Croc River” (August 26).

“Terri and Bindi Irwin have been part of the Animal Planet family for years,” notes Marjorie Kaplan, president and general manager of Animal Planet & Discovery Kids Media. “I am thrilled to have them return to Animal Planet and Discovery Kids with two new series and continue to bring their enthusiasm and love of wildlife to our audience of adults, families and children.”
