TLC Appoints Steve Cheskin to EVP, Programming

(Silver Spring, Md.) TLC has appointed Steve Cheskin to the newly created role of EVP, Programming, it was announced today by the network's President & GM Eileen O'Neill. Reporting directly to O'Neill, Cheskin will focus on strategic programming for the network, leading scheduling efforts and program development. He will start July 7 and will be based at the network's headquarters in Silver Spring, MD.

In this role, Cheskin will lead the network's established scheduling and acquisition team, as well as TLC's bi-coastal development team, to strengthen core genres while identifying new opportunities to continue the network's growth.

"Steve's proven track record makes him an excellent addition to the TLC family," said O'Neill. "With his leadership, I'm confident we will continue the network's strategic growth and create even more must-watch television brands."

Cheskin was most recently at WEtv, where he was SVP Programming and was responsible for all aspects of programming including development, original production, acquisitions and scheduling. There, he developed shows including Amazing Wedding Cakes, Little Miss Perfect, The Locator, and Platinum Weddings. This marks a return to Discovery Communications for Cheskin, where he previously was GM Travel Channel, interim GM for TLC, as well as VP of Programming for TLC.  Steve has also held various roles at Discovery Channel, where he was one of those responsible for inventing Shark Week.
