Top Honors for Discovery Channel’s Planet Earth

(Silver Spring, MD) Discovery Channel’s groundbreaking documentary event PLANET EARTH has captured two awards from the Television Critics Association.
In a ceremony Saturday, July 21, PLANET EARTH was honored for Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Mini-Series and Specials, and for Outstanding Achievement in News and Information.
More than five years in the making, PLANET EARTH embodies the Discovery Channel mission to provide the world’s highest quality programming. The groundbreaking 11-part series features never-before-seen animal behaviors, startling views of remote locations, and unprecedented high-definition production techniques.
PLANET EARTH aired during spring 2007, and is available on DVD at www.discoverystore.com. The TCA Awards were bestowed at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Separately, PLANET EARTH has been nominated for seven Primetime Emmy awards – part of a total of 18 Primetime Emmy nominations for programming on Discovery Channel and its sister network Animal Planet.
