(Silver Spring, Md. ) TLC announced today that it has launched Parentables.com, a collaborative blog about the modern state of parenthood. Parentables is a site where parents from all walks of life can share in finding the extraordinary in the everyday, and take a peek into the lives of other families, learn from their challenges and successes, and discuss hot-button issues. At launch, Parentables has more than 20 contributors, each established writers in the parenting space. In addition, Kate Gosselin and Michelle Duggar from TLC’s hit shows Kate Plus 8 and 19 Kids and Counting will be regular contributors to the blog.
“Parentables offers a unique forum for reaching busy parents facing universal challenges and choices as the heads of their households,” said Kelly Day, EVP and General Manager of Discovery Communications’ Digital Media and Commerce division. “The range of established voices assembled on the site, combined with talent from TLC’s most popular programs, makes for a compelling and entertaining community for parents and leverages TLC’s on-air programming focused on parenting.”
With at least 10 original articles per day, the Parentables blog features personal stories from diverse voices on topics ranging from education and child development to design and style, technology and relationships. Launch posts include “Could Chemicals in Child Car Seats Be Bad For Children?” Vegetarian Nutrition for Kids: The Basics” and “Best Movie Moms.”
Parentables’ writers are not industry experts, but are experts of their own experience. Pros at juggling family, personal and professional commitments, they are “Chief Household Officers” in charge of major decisions, including family health and nutrition, financial planning, education, vacation, and work-life balance. The site’s content encompasses a range of parenting views, with the common theme of the joys and challenges of parenthood running throughout, and allows parents to come together to be inspired, entertained and informed.
The sponsorable platform also allows advertisers to reach household decision-makers in a collaborative, engaging setting, and builds on TLC’s track record of launching digital content verticals that go deeply into relevant content areas and leverage the power of its on-air programming, such as TLC Home, TLC Weddings and TLC Cooking.
