Human Resources

Adria Alpert Romm is in charge of human resources management, training and development, benefits and compensation, and organizational development of Discovery Communications' workforce, which numbers approximately 4,000 people in more than 40 offices around the world.
Upon joining Discovery in 2007, Alpert Romm played a key role in executing a significant business restructuring, including a realignment of Discovery's global workforce, which has focused the organization on growth, performance and operational efficiency. She also implemented a number of employee development initiatives that reinforce Discovery's reputation as one of the best places to work, as measured by Working Mother and Computerworld magazines and Women in Cable & Telecommunications, among others. These initiatives include the introduction of corporate values, employee growth traits, global mentoring programs, an expanded internship to build Discovery's talent pipeline and the construction of an onsite daycare center, which opened in 2008.
From 2004 to 2007, Alpert Romm served as senior vice president of human resources at NBC Universal, where she oversaw human resources support for NBC's television businesses including NBC Network and Studio, NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, digital content, and cable entertainment, which includes the USA, SCI FI and Bravo networks.
Earlier, Alpert Romm served as vice president of human resources for NBC television network and NBC staff functions. Her previous roles included vice president of human resources at CNBC and MSNBC. In her NBC Universal career that began in 1982, Alpert Romm also oversaw human resource functions during the launch of MSNBC, and played a key role in integrating Bravo and Telemundo into the NBC family of companies.
Alpert Romm began her career at Mony Financial Services, where she held several positions specializing in college relations.
A native of New York City, Alpert Romm serves on the board of directors of the Emma L. Bowen Foundation. She graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College with a bachelor's degree in sociology and speech.
