Latin America/U.S. Hispanic

Enrique R. Martínez was named President and Managing Director for Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic in 2001. He is responsible for commercial and operational units including sales, affiliate relations, cable distribution, production operations, research, marketing, communications and information technology across the region. Discovery distributes 12 entertainment networks in Latin America including Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Liv, Animal Planet, Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Travel & Living, Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, Discovery HD Theater and TLC HD. In addition, Martínez is also responsible for overseeing Discovery U.S. Hispanic, which is comprised of Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia. Discovery's regional footprint spans 36 countries and territories, reaching nearly 216 cumulative subscribers and customized in three languages.
During his tenure at Discovery, Martínez has helped create a diverse and successful portfolio of networks in Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula and the U.S. Hispanic market. His leadership has been instrumental in consolidating the company's flagship network, Discovery Channel, as the leading brand in Latin American factual programming. He is also credited with turning Discovery Kids into a top source of quality programming for young viewers and Discovery Home & Health in the top lifestyle network channel for women. Martínez has also transformed Animal Planet into one of Latin America's most popular networks. Additionally, Martínez ensured the successful launch of Discovery HD Theater and TLC HD, the launch of Discovery Familia in the U.S. Hispanic market and most recently the launch of Liv into the Latin American market.
Martínez holds a master's degree in business from the University of Miami and a bachelor's degree in communications from Pepperdine University.
