Luis Silberwasser

Luis Silberwasser is responsible for developing and expanding Discovery’s Spanish-language product and service offerings for the U.S. Hispanic market, including Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia. Silberwasser leads the Discovery Networks U.S. Hispanic Group from Miami, directly overseeing marketing, programming, advertising sales and network operations.

Since joining Discovery in 1998, Silberwasser has held several leadership positions within the company in marketing, sales and business development, in both the U.S. and international media and entertainment arenas. As senior vice president of international strategic planning for Discovery Networks International, Silberwasser was responsible for all new business opportunities including the division’s entry into the lifestyle category, the company’s international new media channel and its Canadian joint-venture operations.

Earlier, Silberwasser served as vice president of affiliate sales and business development for Discovery Networks, Latin America/Iberia where he won carriage of the flagship Discovery Channel and other Discovery Network brands in new markets. Prior to this, Silberwasser was vice president of marketing for Discovery Networks, Latin America/Iberia, where he developed and implemented brand strategies in support of affiliate and advertising sales and supervised all consumer and ratings research activities.

Before joining Discovery, Silberwasser served as vice president and general manager of the personal care and comfort divisions of Sunbeam Corporation in Delray Beach, Florida. He also served as brand manager for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Silberwasser holds an MBA from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
