Discovery Communications Launches Facebook Comments Plugin Across Websites

Today, Discovery Communications launched Facebook’s updated Comments plugin across video clip pages for Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Science Channel, Investigation Discovery, Military Channel and Discovery Health, as well as more broadly across HowStuffWorks.com. This integration (which can be seen here, here and here, for example) provides a seamless opportunity for visitors to these sites to comment on content, and have friends comment on the content, right from their Facebook News Feed.

Discovery was one of a select group of launch partners chosen to incorporate Facebook’s Comments plugin across its websites, and the launch deepens Discovery’s integration of Open Graph beyond “likes” by allowing fans who are signed in to Facebook to comment and share content while on Discovery’s websites.  Those actions will be visible on the fans’ Facebook Walls, as well and will enable their friends to join the dialogue. In  other words, if you’re surfing the web and come across some content that you comment on, your friends will see that comment in their News Feeds, and they will be able to comment on the content as well from their own Facebook pages.

We are proud to have been a launch partner for this new functionality, and look forward to watching it take off!
