‘Firefly’ Lands on Science Channel on Sunday Nights

Science Channel is excited to bring sci-fi fans Joss Whedon’s popular series Firefly, premiering this Sunday at 8pm ET/PT.  Firefly, from the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, is a sci-fi/western adventure series set 500 years in the future, in the wake of a universal civil war. It centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship that doesn’t have a planet to call home. Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds (Nathan Fillion), a defeated soldier who opposed the unification of the planets by the totalitarian governed Alliance, will undertake any job — legal or not — to stay afloat and keep his crew fed.

The response from Browncoats online to the debut of the 15-episode series on Science Channel has been enthusiastic (to put it mildly). The March 6 event will start with the two-hour premiere episode at 8pm ET/PT, followed by the next episode at 10pm.

As a special treat for Firefly fans, Dr. Michio Kaku, star of Science Channel’s Sci Fi Science and the co-founder of string field theory, will be commentating on the science behind Firefly. From terraforming to anti-matter, Kaku will be explaining why the science fiction featured in the show really isn’t that far from science fact. We also hear that there may be some new Firefly stickers surfacing on GetGlue soon, so check in and see what you unlock!
