Animal Planet Premieres a New Season of ‘Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom’

Wildlife got a lot of attention this week, thanks to a sneaky cobra who escaped from the Bronx Zoo and enjoyed some escapades in the city, all while amassing over 222,000 Twitter followers (as of this post date). (And in case you missed it, Animal Planet released a statement today about the @BronxZoosCobra and her upcoming special on the network, just in time to entertain fans for April Fools’ Day.)

However, it’s no joke that Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, the landmark wildlife series that debuted more than 40 years ago, is back – grander and more dramatic than ever.  This year, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom returns for its ninth season on Animal Planet on Sundays at 7pm ET/PT, with upcoming episodes about panda breeding, prairie dog breeding, and forest elephants.

This Sunday, the series takes a look at a Monterrey, California sea otter who leaves the wild to give birth among the marina’s million dollar yachts. The episode is a unique opportunity to see one of the most threatened animals in the world raise her pup in the busy harbor. Here’s a sneak peek of the episode:
