One of the great advantages of working at a company like Discovery is being able to tap into our best resource – our awesome employees and on-air talent – for events like Say Yes to the Prom.  Yesterday, in conjunction with The Horizon Foundation, Discovery Communications invited 34 local girls to the Discovery offices in Silver Spring to choose a prom dress from over 300 dresses donated by Discovery employees from 13 offices.

Monte Durham, of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, hosted the day, giving the girls styling and beauty tips. Conference rooms were transformed into hair and makeup stations, alteration areas,  jewelry and shoe shopping tables, and last but not least, a red-carpet catwalk. The girls were each walked through the stations with a Discovery employee volunteer as their personal shopper, helping them select their prom dress and accessories.

The day culminated with a red-carpet walk once the prom looks were complete, as the employees gathered to watch Monte give each girl her corsage.
