Kids Day 2013: Get Curious!

Kids explored scientific mysteries at Discovery’s Kids Day 2013.

In honor of Take Your Child to Work Day yesterday, Discovery invited the youngest in our ranks to come experience life at the office…or maybe just how we wish every day was!

Discovery’s Kids Day 2013 kicked off with mug decorating, face-painting and monster hair styling, and then the kids settled in for a morning of wild science shows, featuring interactive science experiments and lots of foam! After a lunch break and some time spent shadowing their parents, the kids returned for another round of wacky entertainment, spotlighting a few favorite HowStuffWorks podcasters visiting from the Atlanta office.

During  a presentation on “How Monsters Work,” Ben and Matt of Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know introduced the kids to a monkey named Gwyneth. Stuff You Should Know podcasters Josh and Chuck treated the kids to cotton candy creations with “How Clouds Work?” and “How Slime Works?” left kids with a gooey gift to bring home.

As the day came to a close, we said a final farewell to the kids, sending them off with a sweet treat from Georgetown Cupcakes. Although life at Discovery doesn’t always involve mad scientists, monkeys and cotton candy, it was such a fun day to have the kids of Discovery invade our office space for the day.
