In September, we asked non-profits to apply to participate in Creating Change, Discovery’s annual creative marathon that harnesses the talents of our employees to support our charitable partners in the community, and we’re excited to open our doors (and hearts!) tomorrow to welcome nonprofits to our home at One Discovery Place for the fourth annual Creating Change.
Tomorrow, employees will donate their professional skills to complete projects for nearly 20 nonprofit organizations serving a number of community needs such as poverty, minority and youth education, and animal welfare. The following organizations will be working with us tomorrow:
- A Wider Circle
- ALS Assocation – DC/MD/VA Chapter
- Arthritis Foundation Mid-Atlantic Region
- Calvary Women’s Services
- Cheetah Conservation Fund
- Children’s Science Center
- DC Diaper Bank
- Dupont Festival
- Emma Bowen Foundation
- Gandhi Brigade
- Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital
- Global Giving Foundation
- Petfinder Foundation
- Shepherd’s Table
- Yellow Ribbon Fund
Additionally, to address the needs of the over 80 organizations that applied for the marathon event, Discovery will once again hold a conference running concurrently to the marathon event on November 7. Every organization that applied to Creating Change will be invited to attend and hear from business leaders on relevant and timely topics to help them better navigate their competitive landscape. The conference will include sessions on social media, market research, branding, media training and creativity.
To conclude the day, Discovery will also treat conference attendees to a sneak peek screening of Science Channel’s The Challenger Disaster which airs Saturday, November 16 at 9pm EST on both Science and Discovery Channel.
Let’s create change!
