Discovery Channel Asia recently premiered the first-known documentary by an international TV network to explore contemporary Chinese art – Chineseness. The documentary explores the increasing popularity of contemporary Chinese art around the world, tracking the careers and success of four of the most acclaimed Chinese artists of today – Yang Chihung and Li Chen from Taiwan and Zhang Huan and Xu Bing from China – and providing an inside look at the work and lives of these artists to reveal their unique artistic styles, their sources of inspiration, and their journey to international recognition.
To celebrate the premiere of Chineseness, Discovery hosted a full-day art symposium and exhibition in Taipei, which was attended by over 400 art collectors, art students, affiliates, clients and members of the media. Guests were given the opportunity to meet many of the artists and learn more about their work.
Chineseness will air in Southeast Asia in March 2014.
