Yesterday, Discovery rounded out its 2014 Say Yes to the Prom tour with a stop Chicago, in partnership with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Harpo Studios and Comcast.
Thirty high school girls, from Julian High School in Washington Heights and Curie Metropolitan High School in Archer Heights, began the special day at Harpo Studios with a special kickoff message from Monte Durham, fashion director and star of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, and then the girls jumped into a magical day of dress shopping, makeovers, mentoring and final runway reveals.
Girls chose from over 1,200 dresses donated by employees from Discovery, OWN, Harpo Studios and Comcast and then received a full makeover with the prom-perfect hairstyle provided by JCPenney salon experts, their choice of stylish accessories furnished by JCPenney and makeup provided by bareMinerals.
The Chicago event marks the final stop on Say Yes to the Prom‘s first national tour, with additional events held in Des Moines, Iowa in partnership with Mediacom and at Discovery Communications’ global headquarters in Silver Spring, Md. earlier this year.
Join us in reflecting on the special day below (and more on Facebook), and we wish all of these women an incredible prom day!
