Discovery Hosts US2020 Representatives for “Day at Discovery” Conference

US2020On Tuesday, Discovery Communications was named exclusive media partner for US2020, a new organization developed from a White House call to generate large-scale innovative solutions to our STEM education challenge, with a focus on increasing access to STEM careers for girls, underrepresented minorities, and low-income children.

As part of this commitment, Discovery yesterday hosted about 25 representatives from the US2020’s City Competition for a day-long conference focused on building successful marketing and communications campaigns and also announced a mentor program with Discovery’s STEM-focused employees slated to launch this fall.  Throughout the day, representatives attended sessions, led by Discovery leadership, on creative brainstorming, social media, effective communications, and the millennial generation. Additionally, attendees presented their projects for feedback from others, and the day concluded with a screening of Science Channel’s Through the Wormhole.
