Discovery ‘Lights it up Blue’ for World Autism Awareness Day

April is Autism Awareness Month, and to kick it off, Discovery Communications is joining Autism Speaks in their annual Light It Up Blue campaign for World Autism Awareness Day today, April 2. Autism Speaks is an organization dedicated to funding research focusing on the causes, prevention, treatments and possible cure for autism.

Discovery’s U.S. networks – including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, OWN, Science Channel, Velocity, American Heroes Channel, Destination America, Discovery Life and Discovery Family Channel – will be airing a Light it Up Blue PSA (which you can watch below) throughout the day today to promote autism education. You might also notice a small change on-screen, as select networks turn their logos blue to support the cause. Additionally, Discovery Life will air This is Autism tonight at 7pm ET/CToffering viewers a glimpse into the everyday lives of families living with autism.

Those living in Silver Spring and the greater Washington D.C. area will notice that Discovery Communications’ HQ is lit up blue this week, too, to recognize the campaign.
