There’s big news out of Switzerland today…the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that all TV and multiplatform broadcast rights in Europe for the 2018-2024 Olympic Games have been awarded to Discovery Communications!

Through the new long-term partnership, Eurosport will deliver more coverage than ever before to more than 700 million people across Europe — on screens of all sizes. Discovery and Eurosport have an average of ten channels in every market and the #1 European online and OTT sports offerings, and coverage will be augmented by free-to-air access and partnerships with broadcasters and distributors.

The agreement announced today covers the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang in 2018, and the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo in 2020, as well as the Olympic Games in 2022 and 2024 (host cities yet to be elected).

Earlier this month, Discovery marked its 30th anniversary and is positioned today as the global leader in non-fiction — making Discovery a perfect fit for this honor. We’re proud to capture and deliver the characters and stories that are central to the Games and proud to bring the Olympic Rings to Discovery!
