Two thirds of the world’s fisheries are fully exploited, and one third is overexploited, depleted, or recovering from depletion.
That’s why Discovery Channel is setting out to make waves and build support for the conservation, preservation, and restoration of our planet’s oceans by partnering with Oceana to launch Change The Tide.
Change The Tide connects organizations and individuals with a common mission: to preserve and restore our oceans. Because, simply put, a world without oceans is a world without Discovery.
Ways in which the initiative is working to raise awareness include:
- “10 Things“: Sharing a list of 10 things that we can all do to save the oceans –including tips on how to buy sustainable food, reduce energy use and properly dispose of hazardous materials;
- The Change The Tide Blog: Allowing people to interact with conservation organizations, follow the latest ocean sites, and read profiles about people making a difference in their communities; and
- Partnering with organizations that will help inform and engage users with real opportunities to help restore our oceans.
Change The Tide is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the waters important for survival. After all, a world without oceans is a world without Discovery.
