Discovery +254 Celebrates Launch of Second Season in Kenya

Discovery +254, one of Kenya’s most popular television shows, celebrated the launch of its second season on Friday, July 3rd,. Sarah Hassan, one of the show’s hosts, emceed the event at the British Council where some of Kenya’s top personalities attended, including Adelle Onyago, Edith Kimani, and Jalang’o.

The event was broadcasted live by The Trend, another popular television show in Kenya, and featured celebrities and musical guests KIU, Idd Aziz and Blinky Bill of Just a Band.

Discovery +254 is a magazine-style television program, airing on NTV, which seeks to entertain, inspire, inform, and connect with audiences across Kenya. The program allows young people, parents, and communities to see what can be accomplished with a good education and hard work, featuring celebrity guests, youth reporters and inspiring stories from across Kenya. Season two features youth roundtables with young people from Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria who talk with each other about the challenges and opportunities they face in today’s world.

Discovery +254 is part of the Discovery Project, a unique public-private partnership between Discovery Communications and the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to improve education opportunities in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. The project is being implemented by Discovery Learning Alliance (DLA), which uses the power of media to transform education and improve lives. Tens of millions of people around the world are being impacted through its work in schools, communities and mass media initiatives.

Discovery +254 exemplifies the power real stories have to inspire and transform. The partnership in Kenya extends to its sister programs Discovery +233 in Ghana and Discovery +234 in Nigeria.
