Eurosport walked away with three wins yesterday evening at the inaugural TV Sports Awards, a new awards ceremony created to honor some of the biggest brands and most influential figures in the global sports media industry. The “hat trick” of wins was also worthy of celebration in and of itself, with Eurosport winning each category it was nominated for, including:
- “Best TV Rights Deal” awarded to Eurosport and Discovery for securing all TV and multiplatform broadcast rights to the Olympic Games in Europe from 2018-2024
- Eurosport named “Best Sports Broadcaster”
- Eurosport CEO, Peter Hutton named “Media Executive of the Year”
The award ceremony was hosted during SPORTEL 2015, an annual convention for sports media industry leaders.
This most recent win for Eurosport is one of many highlights the sports channel has seen recently, having just come off a “Channel of the Year” win at the Content Innovation Awards, held before the start of MIPCOM earlier this month. The International Olympic Committee also awarded the network all TV and multiplatform broadcast rights in Europe for the 2018-2024 Olympic Games this past June, bringing more coverage than ever before to over 700 million people across Europe.
