Saturday was World Wildlife Fund’s annual Earth Hour to raise awareness for climate change, and this year’s theme was Turn Up the Dark.
Earth Hour challenged people all over the world to turn off their lights for one hour to demonstrate the need for action against climate change. At our global headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland we shut off our lights for 1 hour to show support for Earth Hour.
And, of course, Discovery is a global media company with a mission-driven approach to not only entertain but inspire. So our colleagues in Romania joined in by interrupting its broadcast for a minute to ask viewers to turn off their TVs for one hour. This was a huge undertaking across departments, and with the strong support of our ad sales team. We were proud to support Earth Hour and turning up the dark!
