Silver Spring, Md. – Discovery Communications announced today that it will celebrate Constitution Day with the next installment in its “Of the People” educational series, hitting classrooms nationwide this week in the form of a Virtual Field Trip featuring U.S. Senators Ted Cruz and Richard Blumenthal as well as Senate Historian Dr. Betty Koed. ET this Friday, September 15.

Through this no-cost immersive learning opportunity, participating elementary and middle school students will learn how the Constitution has created a unique role for the Senate in the U.S. Government. Senate Historian Dr. Betty Koed will kick off the virtual experience and provide attendees an up-close and behind-the-scenes look at the upper house of the United States Congress. U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution Chairman Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Ranking Member Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) will then join to share background on the Subcommittee’s role in the enforcement and protection of Constitutional rights, maintaining a separation of powers, making Constitutional amendments, overseeing federal-state relations, and more.
