With Wide-Ranging Access at the 115th Explorer’s Club Annual Dinner, The Multi-Platform Project Will Air on Discovery and Stream on Discovery Go This Summer
On Saturday, March 16, in an extraordinary gathering of the pioneers of the U.S. space program, the Explorer’s Club will host 10 Apollo astronauts, including Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Discovery, in association with Seeker, a division of Group Nine Media, will be there to document the event for an upcoming multi-platform project that will air this summer.
“The Explorer’s Club Annual dinner is unique and exciting each year. This year with its focus on space travel and the 50th anniversary of the Apollo landing, the room is sure to be electric and emotional with the Apollo astronauts, moonwalkers and engineers, who have inspired all of us. Discovery jumped at the opportunity to have cameras there to highlight the ultimate in example of exploration – journeying into the unknown for answers about ourselves,” states Scott Lewers, Discovery’s EVP Multi-Platform Live Event Strategy.
“Discovery and the Explorers have aligned values and similar goals of bringing credible science and exploration to a wider audience. This gives The Explorers Club an opportunity to significantly expand its mission worldwide,” said Richard Wiese, president of The Explorers Club
From Apollo 11’s Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, to Apollo 7’s Walt Cunningham, Apollo’s 16 Charlie Duke and others, this untitled special will feature first-hand accounts from those who had the chance to experience the once unimaginable. The special is produced by Discovery Channel and Seeker (a division of Group Nine Media).
