On Beach Bites with Katie Lee, Katie Lee is beach hopping to find the local take on the best treats that the shores have to offer. From freshly-caught seafood to local twists on grilled favorites, Katie will try it all, with time to spare for cocktails and sweet treats.

Katie Lee is on a mission to find the best beach food along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. The Biloxi Bay Bridge connects historic beach town Biloxi to Ocean Springs, an artistic community that’s becoming a hot spot for eclectic, diverse restaurants, and Katie finds that there’s great food waiting to be discovered from one end of the bridge to the other. She starts with seafood gumbo made with crab straight out of the local waters, fishes for one of her meals, and samples some soul food that’s not your typical beach cuisine. Down-home barbecue is a must-have for food lovers in the South, so Katie digs into the best ribs below the Mason-Dixon Line. Chicory coffee, homemade buttery biscuits and refreshing ice pops round out a perfect culinary tour of the Mississippi coast.

Katie Lee jaunts just off the coast of Florida to the most accessible, populated and food-centric island in the Bahamas, New Providence, and the city of Nassau. Conch is a staple here, so Katie can’t turn down the freshest conch salad, and local specialties like hog snapper, chicken patties and a Bahama Mama cocktail also represent the island culture. Local spices give barbecue a uniquely Bahamian twist, and a Louisiana family is bringing N’awlins Creole to these majestic isles. Katie wraps things up with a true island classic, the Guava Duff, for dessert.

Katie Lee is hitting California’s famed Pacific Coast Highway to find delicious, international beach food in a beautiful coastal setting. In Monterey, she discovers rich Italian influences in cioppino with local Dungeness crab. Then she finds an almond croissant in Carmel that makes her think she’s been transported to France. Mexican fare in California is always authentic and unbeatable, and Katie samples a perfect pork mole, smooth Mezcal and a Mexican specialty snack, grasshoppers! She can’t leave wine country without pairing some vino with local seafood, and sweet treats like fudge and candy apples are always in order.

  • Premiering Thursday, June 28th at 10pmET/7pmPT – “Tybee Island”

Katie Lee heads to Tybee Island, Georgia, a barrier island just 18 miles southeast of culinary mecca Savannah. The small island is full of big flavors, and Katie starts her exploration with perfectly sweet local shrimp and a spicy blackened fish hoagie at a restaurant so beloved that the locals rallied to keep it open. She’s introduced to “hog wings,” a local version of hot wings that trade the chicken for pork, and she dives into the local specialty, oysters, that are so nice, she tries them twice — roasted and baked with collards and bacon. Katie finishes off her visit with ice cream cookie sandwiches and deep-fried strawberries that represent what the South is all about.

Ali Khan is looking for the best deals in New Haven, Conn., for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack! He starts his day with a creative culinary feast of French toast stuffed with creamy custard made with a 100-year-old recipe, and then he’s off to the landmark birthplace of the hamburger for a truly old-school burger. After a sugar rush from winners of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, Ali settles in for a taste of the Old World with New Haven-style pizza, locally known as “apizza.”

Ali Khan is on a mission to find the best deals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack in Scottsdale, Ariz., a city known for high-end resorts. He starts out strong with a double serving of Southern barbecue scones piled high with savory pulled pork. Then he tracks down a cottage pie just like the ones found on the streets of Sydney, Australia. As the afternoon heats up, Ali cools off with a homemade cookie ice cream sandwich that brings out the kid in him, and he lands a pizza deal for dinner that delivers big flavor with a small price tag.

Man Fire Food

  • Premiering Wednesday, June 6th at 9pmET/6pmPT – “Barbecue and Barbacoa”

Roger Mooking heads to the Lone Star State to meet a family that specializes in two fiery traditions: Texas barbecue and Mexican barbacoa. Pitmaster Adrian Davila of Davila’s BBQ shows Roger their massive smoker and shares the secrets to their legendary brisket and spicy beef sausages that the locals call “hot guts.” Once smoked, these two meats come together in a Texas favorite, Frito Pie. Then Adrian invites Roger to his family’s ranch for traditional Mexican barbacoa. They wrap seasoned lamb in maguey leaves and cook it in the ground before firing up an Argentinean grill to toast fresh tortillas and crisp up the lamb barbacoa.

  • Premiering Wednesday, June 13th at 9pmET/6pmPT – “Weekend BBQs”

Roger Mooking visits two Southern California barbecue joints that serve smoked meat specialties on weekends only. First, he meets a husband and wife team running a pop-up restaurant called Moo’s Craft Barbecue in their own backyard. He helps load their 2,000-pound smoker with Texas brisket and pork butt for tasty tacos and samples their signature side dishes, Mexican street corn and coleslaw kicked up a notch with tequila. Then Roger finds Calabasas Custom Catering in the parking lot at Jim’s Fallbrook Market. He helps caterer Paul Varenchik fire up a big Santa Maria grill to cook beef tri-tip, chickens and baby back ribs, and the waiting customers complete their barbecue plates with crusty garlic bread, macaroni salad and potato salad.

  • Premiering Wednesday, June 20th at 9pmET/6pmPT – “Fiery Outdoor Kitchens”

Roger Mooking tames the flames in outdoor kitchens fueled by wood-burning fires. In Solvang, California, the Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort is home to 10,000 acres of land with horses, cattle and a bevy of fiery cooking contraptions. Roger helps fire up a meal of juicy beef ribs and grilled chickens for their weekly ranch cookout. In San Diego, Roger visits the outdoor kitchen of caterer Clyde Van Arsdall to slow-roast herb and citrus-stuffed turkeys on the spit while vegetables roast in the oven. Then it all comes together for a hearty soup that’s cooked in an antique cauldron rigged above scorching hot coals.

  • Premiering Wednesday, June 27th at 9pmET/6pmPT – “Rad Rigs”

Roger Mooking is on the hunt for the most radical barbecue rigs, and he starts at The Pit Room in Houston, Texas, where special events call for a custom-built trailer that can cook up to 600 pounds of meat. Roger helps load up six whole goats for tacos. In Napa Valley, Calif., he checks out Oak Avenue Catering’s custom-made asado grill that can cook a huge side of beef. For a side dish, fermented cabbages are hung on the grill to cook low and slow with the meat. As they wait for this feast to cook, Roger learns how to transfer a tree stump into a flaming stove for boiling potatoes that are then crisped on a hot plancha to complete this feast in the heart of wine country.
