Ben Price serves as President of U.S. Advertising Sales for Discovery, overseeing all advertising sales for Discovery’s suite of national networks and corresponding digital platforms including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, Science Channel, American Heroes Channel, Destination America, Velocity, Discovery Life Channel and Discovery Family Channel. Previously, Price served as Executive Vice President of National Advertising Sales, overseeing Discovery’s Los Angeles and three other regional offices along with top West Coast and New York client and agency relationships.
Price joined Discovery in 1989 as an advertising sales account executive and quickly rose through the ranks. In 1991, he was elevated to Director of Advertising Sales, Western Region and then promoted the following year to Vice President of Advertising Sales. He was promoted again in 1994 to Senior Vice President of National Advertising Sales overseeing Discovery’s regional offices in Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and Los Angeles. He began his advertising sales career in 1986 at Turner Broadcasting. Prior to Turner, he worked at Xerox Corporation where he held a variety of sales and marketing roles.
Price’s civic and industry commitments include board positions on the Ad Council, International Radio and Television Society, thinkLA (Advertising Club of LA) and Video Advertising Bureau (VAB). He is a member of Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and Hollywood Radio and Television Society. Price is also an active volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of America, American Heart Association and the City of Hope Cancer Center. Price has been honored with several industry accolades including, Cablefax Mentor of the Year, Cablefax’s 100 ranking of industry heavy hitters and thinkLA’s John Marin Memorial Award. Price received his Bachelor of Science from San Diego State University and Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University. He is based out of Discovery’s New York office.
